Star Box Office Collection Day 1: Released on May 10, 2024, the Tamil romantic drama, written and directed by Elan, introduces audiences to a tale of ambition and perseverance. Lead by Kavin, the film also features Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and Geetha Kailasam. The narrative follows Kalai, a determined individual striving to fulfill his acting aspirations amidst adversity. Produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sreenidhi Sagar, the film is a collaborative effort between Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Rise East Entertainment. Star debuted strongly in India, grossing above Rs 2 crore on its opening day.

Star opened on a strong note India, grossing approximately Rs 2.70 crore rupees. Tamil audiences showed significant interest, with an overall occupancy of 38.83% on Friday, May 10, 2024. The film captivated viewers throughout the day, with morning, afternoon, and evening shows recording occupancies of 33.04%, 41.41%, and 42.03% respectively.
About Star
Star showcases a talented cast, headlined by Kavin as Kalai, the aspiring actor. Lal and Geetha Kailasam portray Kalai's parents, while Aaditi Pohankar and Preity Mukhudhan bring Jimikky and Meera Malaikodi to life, respectively. Initially set to star Harish Kalyan, Kavin eventually took the lead role. The project, initially titled 'Kavin's Next,' commenced in August 2023 and underwent a title change. Principal photography, primarily in Chennai, concluded by mid-February 2024. The film features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Ezhil Arasu K, and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.
In June 2019, Harish Kalyan was set to team up again for Elan's next directorial, reportedly produced by Amma Creations. Director Elan confirmed the project in December 2020, with Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the music. However, by July 2021, reports suggested the project was shelved due to creative differences. In August 2023, Kavin replaced Kalyan for the lead role, with producers B. V. S. N. Prasad and Rise East Entertainment onboard.
