The Kerala Story Box Office Collection Day 35: Sudipto Sen's film, The Kerala Story, is experiencing a decline in box office earnings. It consistently earns around Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh per day. Despite its initial success, it appears that The Kerala Story will be pulled out from theatres in the near future. On June 7, the film earned approximately Rs 50 lakh. However, these figures remain commendable considering the initial ban of The Kerala Story in Bengal and its absence from theatres in Tamil Nadu.
Despite the controversies surrounding The Kerala Story, the film was released in theatres on May 5 and performed brilliantly at the box office. It even crossed the Rs 200 crore milestone on Day 18. However, its collection slowed down afterward. According to early trade estimates, on Day 35, June 8, the film earned around Rs 50 lakh. As a result, the total collection of The Kerala Story now stands at approximately Rs 238.47 crore, inching closer to the Rs 240 crore mark. On June 8, the film had an overall occupancy of 13.65 per cent in Hindi.
About The Kerala Story:
The plot of The Kerala Story revolves around a Hindu woman from Kerala, portrayed by Adah Sharma, who is manipulated into adopting Islam and then sent to Syria. There, she is coerced into joining the terrorist organisation ISIS and experiences immense suffering and torture. Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film has garnered significant attention and scrutiny since the release of its trailer.
Initially, the movie asserted that 32,000 women from Kerala were forced to convert and join the Islamic State. However, amid the controversies surrounding the film, the number was subsequently revised to three. In addition to Adah Sharma, the film also stars Sonia Balani, Yogita Bihani, and Siddhi Idnani in important roles.
