Tourist Family OTT Release: Tourist Family, one of the most anticipated movie of 2025, debuted in theaters on May 1, 2025. The Tamil movie led by M Sasikumar and Simran opened to favorable reviews from the audiences. The comedy drama's makers recently shared their plans for its OTT debut amid the show's favorable box office reception.
When And Where To Watch Tourist Family?
Tourist Family will be available on JioHotstar as per an insider close to The Economic Times.
The creators of the Tamil movie provided an update on the OTT release during a recent press conference. Yuvaraj Ganesan, the producer of Tourist Family, stated that the OTT release was the reason why their movie clashed with Suriya's Retro. He claimed that when movies are sold on streaming platforms, the release window on OTT is also determined. The producers had no option but to release the movie in theaters on May 1st because they were required to stream it by the end of May already. The digital platform will begin streaing Tourist Family by May 31.
However, an official confirmation regarding the movie's digital platform is awaited.
Family Tourist Box Office Report
Tourist Family has had a surprising impact at the Tamil Nadu box office. With an astounding Rs 5.25 crore received on day 10 alone, what began as a modest release with Rs 2 crore on day 1 has swiftly turned into a sleeper hit. This raises the total amount collected in Tamil Nadu to Rs 28.5 crore, as per sacnilk.
Sasikumar and Simran's famiy entertainer has grossed Rs 33.15 crore within 10 days at the box office in India.
About Family Tourist
This poignant family drama, which was directed by Abishan Jeevinth, tells the moving tale of a Tamil family who were compelled to flee their home in Sri Lanka and relocate to India amid the COVID-19 pandemic and sociopolitical unrest. The narrative tracks the family's hardships, resiliency, and emotional obstacles as they start to adjust to life in a strange country.
Tourist Family director Abishan Jeevinth talked about making of this Tamil movie with OTTPlay, and said "Even if there are some tiring moments, it is for this that I have worked so hard for the longest time. I am taking it as happy moments."
The filmmaker added, "But due to COVID, inevitably, many problems came, and it couldn’t be mounted. After that, the spark for this project came. I had an idea to make Thenali 2. From that, I got certain fresh elements which paved the way for Tourist Family."
