Sonu Nigam had a performance in Kolkata on Sunday, February 9th. The celebrated singer, known for songs like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Papa Meri Jaan, Dil Dooba, Bole Chudiyaan and countless others, was annoyed when the audience continued to stand, interfering with his performance.
Sonu Nigam Gets Angry With Kolkata Crowd During Concert
Sonu Nigam was seen yelling at the audience in a video that went viral from the venue. He can be heard urging everyone to take a seat. There is a moment when the singer, who was visibly angry, said "Agar aapko khade hona hai toh election mein khade ho jaao yaar (If you want to stand, stand in election)."
Sonu Nigam continued, "Please bithao. Jaldi karo… itna time jaa raha hain mera maalum hain? Apka cut off time aa jayega phir, baithao! Jaldi baitho! Baitho! Bahar niklo! Make this space empty."

Many recalled the late singer KK's erformance in Kolkata in June 2022 which took a side turn following poor mismanagement. They emphasised that crowd control is necessary for the security of artists.
A user wrote, "Again the same place, Kolkata... He had do it by himself because he knows what happened to KK due to this type of management & security... Everyone will have to do this here and everywhere while running the show for self-security..."
Another user wrote, "He actually had to manage the crowd and security himself. Because the management was so poor."
The third person commented on the viral video, saying, "While Bengaluru, Mumbai and Bangalore are hosting international artists in big areas with good infrastructure and crowd management, our kolkata is struggling with our local artists with poor management and infrastructure."
The fourth user wrote,"I was there last night in the concert and it was really sad to see the management not upto par. Sir was great."
Many lauded Sonu Nigam for keeping his patience and managing the crowd. One of the many users said, "He has to manage everything from managing crowd to requesting people to sit in their respective seats.. he was requesting those people for a long time but they didn’t even listen..those like us sitting a little bit further away couldn’t even see properly for them..as a artist himself he has to manage even the work of security who were not even interested to sort this out...the management was at fault."
Meanwhile, Sonu Nigam recently experienced a terrible back spasm while performing live, and in an Instagram post, she described the pain as agonizing.
