Cinema lovers in Bengaluru and across Karnataka now have a reason to cheer, as the Karnataka government has announced a cap on cinema ticket prices, limiting them to Rs 200 across the state. This price cap was issued under the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025.

The Rs 200 price cap applies to both single-screen theatres and multiplexes, ensuring affordable entertainment for all. However, the Rs 200 price cap comes with some exceptions and add-ons.

Here’s What You Will Pay At The Movies

- Single-Screen Theatres: Follows Rs 200 Price Cap

- Multiplex Standard Theatres: Follows Rs 200 Price Cap

- Gold Class/Premium Halls (≤75 seats): Exempted From Rs 200 Price Cap, May Cost More

The Rs 200 price cap excludes GST and online booking charges, Times of India reported.
While prices for premium theatres may exceed Rs 200, standard movie experience will become affordable with the Rs 200 price cap.

Here’s What You Will Pay For Snacks And Beverages

- The Rs 200 price cap is only applicable to cinema tickets. There is no price cap on popcorn, nachos, and beverages.

- Multiplexes can set their own rate on beverages and snacks.

- In some cases, snacks and beverages may cost more than a movie ticket.

Karnataka Rs 200 Cap Applicable Across Show Timing

Whether you are catching a morning show or a weekend screening, movie ticket prices will be capped at Rs 200, making cinema affordable for all.
This rule applies to all show timings in Bengaluru and across Karnataka.
