Bengaluru witnessed a horrific crime in the early hours of Wednesday when a 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men near the KR Puram railway station. The incident took place around 1:30 am while the victim was on her way back home to Bihar from Kerala.

According to PTI reports, the young woman had been working in Kattappana, Kerala, but was dissatisfied with her job and decided to return home. She initially bought a ticket to Mangaluru but instead used it to travel to Bengaluru.

Before reaching KR Puram railway station, she contacted her cousin. She arrived at the station at approximately 1:13 am and was walking towards Mahadevapura with her cousin to find food when the attack occurred.

As they walked, two unidentified men approached them. One of the attackers assaulted her cousin and restrained him, while the other dragged the woman to an isolated spot and sexually assaulted her.

Hearing her cries for help, passersby rushed to the scene, forcing the perpetrators to flee. However, bystanders managed to catch one of the suspects, identified as Ashif, and handed him over to the police.

Authorities have registered a case against both accused and launched a manhunt to track down the second suspect. Police have assured that efforts are in full swing to bring the perpetrator to justice.
