Bengaluru Meat Ban: There will be a ban on sale of meat and animal slaughter across Bengaluru on February 15 in view of Maha Shivaratri, as per the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). The Animal Husbandry Department of GBA has issued a statement ordering slaughterhouses and retail meat outlets to remain closed for the day.
The Maha Shivaratri, also known as the great night of Shiva, is considered auspicious for spiritual growth and signifies the victory over darkness and ignorance. It also marks the divine marriage of Lord Shiva, the lord of destruction with Goddess Parvati, the goddess of fertility, love, and beauty, also known as Shakti (power).
What Does The Directive Say?
Sale of meat, including chicken, mutton, and fish, will not be permitted in Bengaluru, as per the order. Licensed stalls and markets will be affected by the ban. Restrictions will also be imposed on online deliveries. Strict action will be taken against those violating the rules.

In another news, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced power cuts in multiple areas in Bengaluru on Friday for maintenance works by KPTCL in the 66/11 KVA Manyata Tech Park Substation. The shutdown will take place from 11 am to 4 pm, according to BESCOM.
