Jagran Correspondent, Gujarat: The incident of ragging at the medical college affiliated to Sir T Hospital in Gujarat's Bhavnagar has led to a massive outrage among the students and the trainee doctors. As per the reports, the anti-ragging committee of the college has suspended six senior doctors who were allegedly involved in ragging. The committee launched an intensive investigation into the matter soon after the ragging incident was reported in the college.
As per the reports, the committee questioned all the suspects for over eight hours to ascertain the exact details of the tragic incident. It recorded the official statements of 13 R3 doctors, five support staff, and faculty members during the investigation.
The Anti-Ragging Committee, after a thorough investigation, found six senior doctors guilty and announced strict action against them as per the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college administration has ordered all the guilty students to vacate the hostel with immediate effect by 6 pm on Friday. It further asserted that any similar activity shall not be entertained, directing all the students to follow the guidelines.
Committee Takes Strict Action:
- All students found guilty should be immediately removed from the hostel
- One student was immediately expelled from college for 2 years
- Three students were expelled from the college for a year
- Two students were expelled for 6 months
- Convicted students will not participate in any other activity, including academic, clinical, and research
Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya has stated that ragging will not be tolerated in any medical college of the state under any circumstances. He further stated that the government is committed to maintaining the safe and healthy academic environment for the students. As per the reports, the college is also considering registering police complaints against the guilty doctors in an attempt to set an example.
