Chandigarh: Platform number 1 of the Chandigarh railway station will be closed from July 12 to August 9, 2024, due to an ongoing redevelopment project. The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) has extended the work completion date by an additional three months after missing the deadline twice. This extension follows the deadline that was missed on May 31.

To build the air concourse spanning across the railway lines, certain trains are terminated for a brief period, while some are redirected.

Passengers entering or departing at Platform No. 2/3 are urged by Northern Railway officials to utilise the foot over bridge at Platform No 1. To avoid traffic, passengers using Platform No 4/5 should use the second entry on the Panchkula side or the route near the parcel office (Kalka end) from the main entrance.

Use the second entry (Panchkula side) for Platform No 6 in order to avoid rush hour traffic. Passengers are advised to use the second entry (Panchkula side) when boarding or disembarking at Platform No. 6 for Train No 20977/78 (Ajmer-Chandigarh-Ajmer Vande Bharat Express) and Train No 12045 (New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express).
