Delhi Airport Flight Update: At least 16 flights were cancelled and several others delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday due to dense fog and poor visibility. Airport officials said the disruptions were reported mainly during the early morning hours when visibility levels dropped sharply.
An official confirmed that 11 arriving flights and five departures were cancelled. Despite the weather-related issues, authorities said airport operations later stabilised.
Delhi Airport Flight Update: Visibility Drops To Critical Levels
Dense fog and mist covered the airport between 4:30 AM and 8:30 AM, affecting air traffic movement. According to reports, visibility fell below 200 metres during this period. The situation worsened briefly between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM, when visibility dropped to as low as 50 metres.

Due to these conditions, more than 500 flights were rescheduled. The average delay was around 34 minutes, though some flights faced longer waiting times. Delays ranged from about 29 minutes to nearly six and a half hours in certain cases.
Delhi Airport News: Passengers Face Long Delays
One Ranchi-bound flight scheduled to depart at 6:45 AM took off only around 1:20 PM after facing multiple delays. Officials cited technical checks and delayed air traffic control clearance as contributing factors.
Passengers reported inconvenience as flight schedules changed repeatedly during the morning.
Indira Gandhi International Airport Operator Issues Advisory
Delhi International Airport Ltd, which operates the capital’s airport and manages nearly 1,300 flight movements daily, advised travellers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
Airlines also issued similar advisories, urging passengers to stay updated through official channels.
Delhi Weather: More Fog Likely
The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate fog on December 25 and 26. Officials said similar weather conditions could continue to impact flight operations in the coming days.
Travellers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time due to possible delays.
