Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Five members of a family were burnt alive when the taxi they were travelling in caught fire on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Awar district. The group was on their way home in Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh, after a visit to the Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a report by Jagran.com, the accident occurred late Wednesday night, April 29, on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Awar district.
Five Found Dead In Burning Car
Upon arriving at the scene, police found the five individuals dead in the burning car. A National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) patrol called the fire brigade vehicle to extinguish the flames, after which the bodies were transported to the mortuary of the Alwar District Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Police Establishes Identities Of Victims
A local police officer, Neki Ram, identified four of the victims as Santosh Kumar (35), his wife Shashi (33), his mother-in-law Parvati (50), and his daughter, Ragni (13). The fifth individual in the vehicle, a woman, has not yet been identified, Hindustan Times reported.
According to the report, the driver, Vinod Kumar Mehar, managed to jump from the burning car. He was initially rushed to the district hospital, where doctors referred him to Jaipur for further treatment.
Fire At Gaur Green Avenue In Indirapuram
In a separate incident, a massive fire broke out at Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on Wednesday on the ninth floor at the Gaur Green Society's D Tower. The blaze in Indirapuram soon spread to the other floors as well. The fire department rescued approximately 20 people safely. A woman and two elderly people were hospitalised due to smoke suffocation. Both elderly people are currently reported out of danger.
