In a distressing incident, a 42-year-old man has been arrested for the repeated rape of his 14-year-old daughter at their house in Faridabad’s Ballabgarh, police said on Friday.

According to police officials, the minor girl is a Class 7 student, lived with her father, an autorickshaw driver. Her mother had left the family, taking two of their six children, after enduring years of domestic violence linked to her husband’s alcoholism. She moved to her sister’s home in Charkhi Dadri.

The case came to light when the girl fell ill on Wednesday and sought medical help from a neighbor. She was reportedly suffering from abdominal pain and fever. During the doctor’s visit, she disclosed that she had been assaulted the previous night. The neighbor alerted the police, who began an investigation.

During counseling, the girl revealed that her father, who returned home intoxicated nearly every night, had been raping her for the past two months. Police said the abuse was motivated by anger after his wife left her, and the girl had remained silent out of fear until her illness forced her to seek help.

A First Information Report (FIR) was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for aggravated penetrative sexual assault and sexual harassment.

The accused was arrested on Thursday and sent to judicial custody on Friday. Authorities are now counselling the man’s three other minor daughters to ascertain if they too were subjected to any sexual assault or torture.
