Gujarat Weather Update: Owing to the impact of the air cyclonic circulation and the monsoon trough, the state is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain till next week. The latest weather forecast bulletin shared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed all the districts of Gujarat on a yellow alert until September 2 for heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in major parts. While the rest of the districts are placed under a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall.
The forecast for Saturday has predicted heavy rains in Sabarkantha, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Apart from this, thunderstorms and lightning strikes have also been predicted in the state.
Gujarat Weather Today: Heavy To Moderate Rain In Different Parts
Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in several parts on Saturday that fall under different regions in the state-
- North Gujarat: Thunderstorm activity is likely in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli districts.
- Central Gujarat: Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, and Chhota Udepur may experience thunderstorms.
- South Gujarat: Southern Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad are under threat of thunderstorm activity.
- Saurashtra-Kutch Region: Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu are likely to witness thunderstorms
Gujarat Weather Forecast: Rain To Continue Till Next Week
-The weather department has put all the districts in the state on a yellow alert for two major reasons: heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning and thunderstorms, lightning with light to moderate rainfall.
- The Surashtra districts are expected to prominently witness thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rainfall at isolated places.
- The rest of the districts are expected to record heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places till Tuesday, September 2. The yellow alert will remain in place till next week.
