Ahmedabad Statue Defaced: A bizarre incident took place in Gujarat's Ahmedabad, in which the national flag and statues at Haribhai Godani Circle in Saraspur were defaced with liquor bottles and brooms. A video showing the disturbing scene emerged on social media, prompting authorities to launch a probe. BJP MLA Dinesh Kushwaha, whose office is located near the Haribhai Godani Circle, said a probe will be conducted into the matter.

"I am not aware of this incident. I will make sure that it is investigated," the MLA said.

Empty liquor bottles hung from statues, and a broom were attached to the national flag and another flag at the site. Gujarat is a dry state, where prohibition on manufacturing, selling, and consumption of alcohol is in place. Locals were furious over the incident as the circle is situated on a public road frequently visited by many residents. They demanded strict action against those who defaced the site, aiming to disturb peace in the locality.

What Officials Said On The Incident

Reacting to the viral video, Vishal Khanama, Ahmedabad Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the North Zone, directed a municipal team to visit the site.

The ahmedabad municipal corporation confirmed the incident, saying it acted promptly soon after the incident came to light. The civic body said it has restored the site.

Officials said that the Haribhai Godani Circle area falls under the jurisdiction of the Gomtipur Police Station. The Bapunagar Police reportedly registered a case against unidentified persons.

Meanwhile, the incident took place months after a statue of BR Ambedkar was found damaged in the Ahmedabad's Khokhra area, prompting the police to register a case.
