Kolkata Accident: Four people were killed and two others seriously injured in a tragic accident on the Nivedita Setu flyover over the Hooghly River in Kolkata on Friday morning. According to local police, the incident occurred when a small cargo truck carrying clothes overturned after a tire burst, plunging at least 40 feet from the flyover.
Witnesses to the accident quickly rushed to the scene and managed to pull six people, including the driver, from the wreckage. The accident was reported to the local police, who arrived promptly and, with the help of bystanders, transported the injured to a nearby hospital.
Tragically, four of the six passengers succumbed to their injuries, while the remaining two are still in critical condition and receiving treatment.
The cargo vehicle involved in the accident was traveling from Howrah in North 24 Parganas district to a wholesale cloth market at Ankurhati in the Domjur block of Howrah district. Eyewitnesses reported to the police that the vehicle was loaded with sacks of clothes, with four people sitting on top of the sacks.

The vehicle was speeding when a tire burst, causing the driver to lose control of the steering. The vehicle subsequently overturned and plunged from the flyover. The identities of the four deceased victims have not yet been confirmed.
A local police officer stated that authorities are working to identify the deceased and reach out to their families. "We hope to gather information about their identities after speaking with the injured, who are currently receiving treatment," the officer added.
