The lawyer of Kolkata Law College rape victim on Thursday told the Calcutta High Court that the female student’s family was satisfied with the progression of probe conducted by the state police, Live Law reported. The statement was made by a division bench of Justices Soumen Sen and Smita Das De while hearing a bunch of pleas seeking an independent investigation and heightened security across the campuses in the state.
The West Bengal government has submitted its report on the status of the probe so far in a sealed cover before the court. The victim’s family has also sought a copy of this report.
The Kolkata Police arrested four persons, including two accused and the security guard, within two days of the incident.
A court in Alipore on July 8 remanded the four accused to 14 days of judicial custody. They were charged with gang rape, wrongful confinement, kidnapping and causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapon.
The victim, in her complaint on June 26, accused Monojit Mishra of sexually and physically assaulting her in the guard’s room and washroom on June 25. Mishra is a non-teaching staff member in the college. She alleged that Pramit Mukhopadhyay and Zaib Ahmed filmed the act while guarding the crime scene.
The guard has been accused of providing the accused space in his room and not helping the victim during the crime.

The police have been asked to submit their next report on developments in the case after four weeks.
