Mumbai: A case has been registered by Parksite Police against two people for assaulting a cab driver in the Ghatkopar area after their car dashed the cab, Mumbai Police said. A video of the incident had gone viral on social media. The disturbing clip shows a man throwing the Ola cab driver onto the ground and then hitting and kicking him after the latter's vehicle hit the bumper of the luxury Audi car. The 30-second video of the incident that took place on August 18, shows a car coming behind an Audi and as the driver applied brakes, the vehicle slightly touched the bumper of the Audi.

The case has been lodged based on the complaint of the victim driver Qaymuddin Mainuddin Qureshi (24) and the CCTV footage. The driver, a resident of Govandi, suffered serious injuries after which he was taken to the Rajawadi Hospital by security personnel, but seeing the injuries on his head, he was admitted to JJ Hospital. Parksite Police has sent notice to the car owner Rishabh Chakravorty who assaulted the cab driver. No one has been arrested in this case yet. Further investigation is underway, Mumbai Police added.
The Audi owner, Rishabh Chakravarti, his wife Antara Ghosh and another woman got down to check if the vehicle suffered any damage. Soon after, they started shouting and abusing the Ola driver. Rishabh can b then slaps Qaymuddin Mainuddin Qureshi, lifts him and slams him to the ground, the video shows. The driver's head hits the surface, leaving him motionless for a while.
Rishabh did not stop there. He kicked the driver, who was lying on the ground, as people present at the spot watched as mute spectators. The driver, who suffered head injuries, finally stands, holding his head.
The incident happened on August 18 around 11:20 pm at the entrance of a building opposite a mall in Ghatkopar in Mumbai, a police official told PTI.
"Mr Ansari was first taken to Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar and then shifted to state-run JJ hospital. His statement has been recorded. The assault on him has been captured by CCTV cameras at the entrance of the building," the official told PTI.
