Andhra Tragedy: In a tragic incident, a 46-year-old woman died after she reportedly fell into a vessel containing boiling sambhar during the preparation of a religious programme in Vijayawada. As per the reports, the woman fell into the large vessel on Sunday during the Chavithi annadanam programme. While Sujatha, the deceased, was immediately noticed and was rushed to a local hospital, she succumbed to burn injuries a day later during the treatment.
'Fell Into Large Vessel'
The reports suggest that the deceased accidently fell into the vessel containing sambhar while helping with the cooking arrangements for the food distribution programme. She sustained severe injuries after falling into the vessel and was immediately rushed to a local hospital. Her conditions deteriorated in the late hours of Sunday while she was being treated at the hospital, NDTV reported.
Died While Receiving Treatment: Officials
She died on Monday while receiving the treatment, reported NDTV, citing the available local sources. The local police have begun a probe into the matter to disclose the exact circumstances under which Sujatha fell into the large vessel; however, the officials are treating the case as accidental death. The incident has sent shockwaves among the family members and the locals.
In a separate tragic incident, six boys drowned after falling into a lake during Ganesh idol immersion at a village near here on Wednesday evening, police said. Eight boys staying at a hostel run by a charitable trust at Pedda Kanjarla village, fell into the lake during the immersion, they said.
While two managed to come out, six others drowned. It is suspected that loose mud in the lake led to the tragedy. A police constable who was nearby performed CPR on the victims, but they could not be revived, a police official told PTI.
The lake was isolated and there were no adults around who could have tried to rescue the boys, he said. Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and several other leaders condoled the deaths.
