Former Delhi chief minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal has called on CJP to go beyond its demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation and directly seek the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

His remarks came amid the ongoing row over the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Kejriwal alleged that the decisions taken by Kumar were at “the behest of the boss".

Sharing a clip from a news channel's conclave on X, Kejriwal wrote, "I have a message for cockroaaches.. First, you demanded the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Now you're demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. I say, Go ahead and directly demand the boss's resignation. Everything is happening at his behest.

Now the movement should be for Narendra Modi's resignation."

His remarks came after CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke warned of nationwide protests on October 2 if the CEC did not step down by September 26.

The controversy began following allegations of dissent within the Election Commission over its practices and decisions concerning the electoral process and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, following a report by The Indian Express.

Mumbai Police Denies Permission For CJP Protest

On Sunday, Dipke said the Mumbai Police had refused permission for CJP's planned protest against Kumar in Mumbai on October 2. He subsequently warned that the organisation would launch a Jail Bharo Andolan in the city on Gandhi Jayanti if it was denied its “right to protest”.

In a post on X, Dipke said, “Mumbai Police has also denied permission for our protest on 2nd October. Such tactics to suppress citizens’ voices are unacceptable."

CJP's Ashutoh Ranka said the organisation's demand for Kumar's resignation on Monday, saying it would not withdraw its call for the CEC to step down. Ranka alleged that Kumar had removed the names of 13 crore people from electoral rolls and "defrauded" them. He also questioned the BJP's decision to "defend" Kumar over the allegations.

"For 48 hours, the ball was in Kumar's court; now it is in CJP's court. We will start our nationwide protest on October 2, and we won't back down till he resigns. CJP is a platform which, if it gets involved in any matter, doesn't let go of it until we win," Ranka said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

CJP co-convener Saurav Das also criticised Kumar, saying that the CEC, who enjoyed “arrogance and impunity”, would be “fully humbled” by Gen Z.

“From walking with so much arrogance and impunity to not being able to leave his residence and cancelling Gen-Z engagements, life has humbled Gyanu. A lesson for other stooges too. Now the young-gen will ensure he is fully humbled,” Das said.
