Punjab University (PU) has imposed a blanket ban on the entry of outsiders into the premises. The PU has issued strict instructions to all employees and students, mandating the wearing of identity cards around their necks at all times. Additionally, all the vehicles entering the university premises will have to undergo a thorough check to avoid any security issues.
The heightened security measure comes after the police have identified the main accused, Deepak alias Kancha and Harshu in the Aditya Thakur murder case and are launching searches to detain them. Notably, the District Magistrate has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the case.
The police have formed four teams to launch search operations. The teams, comprising personnel from the Sector-11 police station, Crime Branch, Operation Cell, and DCC, are conducting simultaneous raids across the region.
Aditya Thakur Was Killed In The Star Night Of Masoom Sharma
Aditya Thakur was brutally attacked and killed during a star night event featuring Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma. Eyewitnesses report that the altercation began when Thakur had a heated exchange with Deepak alias Kancha and Harsh, who were accompanied by their friends. As Thakur walked behind the stage, the group attacked him, leaving him severely injured.

So far, police have arrested four individuals, Sahil, Raghav, Lavish, and Ajay, in connection with the case. However, the main accused, Deepak alias Kancha and Harsh, remain at large. Police personnel from the Crime Branch, Operation Cell, DCC, and Sector-11 are tirelessly launching the raids to apprehend the main accused.
Magisterial Probe Ordered into Panjab University Student's Murder
The District Magistrate has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the murder of Aditya Thakur, a student of Panjab University, who was stabbed to death during a concert of Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma on March 28. The report has to be submitted in 2 weeks. The probe will investigate all aspects of the incident, including security lapses and routes that allowed outsiders to enter the campus.
Notably, the intensity of protest on campus is rising day by day, with students expressing anger over the delay in arresting the main accused.
