AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna’ from Marghat Wale Hanuman Baba at ISBT in Delhi. Former Delhi CM, flaked by his wife, registered the priest of the temple to avail benefits of the scheme. Under the provision, a monthly allowance of Rs 18,000 will be provided to priests and ‘granthis’ of temples and Gurudwara if Kejriwal's AAP wins the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The scheme was announced by Kejriwal on Monday.

Besides, Kejriwal also celebrated the birthday of the priest at the temple. He also accused the BJP of preventing him from launching the scheme.

“Today I visited Marghat Baba's temple (ISBT) and launched the Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana. Today is the birthday of the Mahant ji here. I also celebrated his birthday with him. BJP tried its best to stop the registration today. But no one can stop a devotee from meeting his God,” he posted on X. 

Delhi CM Atishi will also launch the scheme from Gurudwara Sant Sujan Singh Maharaj in Karol Bagh. She would register Granthi Sahiban. “Today, I will register the Granthi Sahibs under the Priest-Granthi Samman Scheme at Gurdwara Sahib in Karol Bagh,” she posted on X.

Earlier, Kejriwal tore into the BJP for ‘opposing’ the ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna’. He said the BJP was in power across 20 states and had not shown any respect to the priests.  "BJP people have been abusing me since yesterday, ever since the Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana was announced. My question to them is, will the country benefit from abusing me? You have governments in 20 states. You have been in power in Gujarat for 30 years. Why haven't you respected the priests and granthis there till now? Come on, do it now? I have shown the way to everyone. Instead of abusing me, why don't you implement it in your 20 states, then everyone will benefit? Why do you abuse me?" he said on X.

Delhi LG VK Saxena last week ordered a probe into the allegations over AAP’s schemes. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit had registered a complaint in this regard. The allegations included fraudulent collection of personal data under the pretext of AAP’s Mahila Samman Yojana, the presence of Punjab intelligence officers near the homes of Congress candidates and cash transfers from Punjab to Delhi aimed at influencing the elections.
