Laurene Powell Jobs, wife of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is in India to attend the Mahakumbh in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. On Saturday, Laurene Powell Jobs visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi alongside Kailashanand Giri Maharaj, who revealed that she has been given the Hindu name ‘Kamala.’

Speaking to the media, Kailashanand Giri Maharaj explained the significance of her visit. "She is coming to visit her guru here. We have named her Kamala and she is like a daughter to us. This is the second time she is coming to India. Everyone is welcome in Kumbh,". Powell’s visit is primarily for meditation and spiritual reflection, the seer added as reported by ANI.

During the visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Powell followed temple traditions, observing the Shivling from outside, as per Hindu customs. The Maharaj also mentioned her plans to stay in the Kumbh area and take a holy dip in the Ganga.

When asked if Powell would be included in the Akhara’s prestigious ‘Peshwai,’ Kailashanand Giri Maharaj said the decision would be left to her. “We will try to include her in the Peshwai. She will tour this Kumbh, meet the seers and learn about our traditions. It is heartening that people from across the world want to connect with our culture,” he noted.

During their visit to the Kashi temple, they prayed for the successful completion of the Mahakumbh without obstacles. "Today, we have come to Kashi to pray to Mahadev that the Kumbh is completed without any obstacles. I came here to invite Mahadev," the Maharaj said.
