PM Modi's Manipur Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid his first visit to Manipur since the northeastern state was gripped by a series of ethnic clashes in May 2023. On his crucial tour to the state, which has been in the headlines for over the last two years, the prime minister laid foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 7,300 crore from Manipur's Churachandpur district. Also, PM Modi inaugurated multiple development projects worth more than Rs 1,200 crore at Imphal.

Here Are The Highlights Of The Projects Launched By PM Modi In Manipur

- Manipur urban roads, drainage and asset management improvement initiative worth Rs 3,647 crore.

- Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project worth Rs 550 crore, an official statement released by the authorities said.

- PM Modi laid the foundation for nine working women's hostels worth Rs 142 crore

- Super-speciality and healthcare facilities to be developed at Rs 105 crore.

- Infrastructure development in and around Polo Ground at Rs 30 crore.

- Strengthening of facilities of 120 schools at a cost of Rs 134 crore in all 16 districts.

- Various projects pertaining to rural connectivity, education and tourism in parts of Manipur with a total value of Rs 102 crore.

- Construction of a multipurpose indoor stadium worth Rs 36 crore at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal, and upgradation of NH 102 A in Tengnoupal sections worth Rs 502 crore.

- Prime Minister also inaugurated multiple development projects worth more than Rs 1,200 crore at Imphal.

Want To Make Manipur Symbol Of Peace, Prosperity: PM Modi

In view of ethnic clashes in the state, PM Modi, while addressing a public meeting in Kuki-dominated Churachandpur district, urged various outfits to shun violence. He asserted that his government was with the people of Manipur and wanted to make the state a symbol of peace and prosperity.

"It is unfortunate that violence happened here. Today, I want to promise you that the Government of India is with you and I am with you," he said. "I would appeal to all groups and organisations to choose the path of peace," he added.
