Meta Threads, a comparatively new micro-blogging platform, which has added a variety of new features in order to take on Elon Musk’s X, may soon introduce the highly anticipated DMs. This came after Mosseri, in conversation with Platformer Casey Newton, said that Instagram's messaging might be the right one for the Threads.

Mosseri has been hinting that the platform has been connected to Instagram and DMs could be the main place for private chat. “There is still more work to be done there,” Mosseri stated. "My hope is that we can make the Instagram inbox work inside Threads," he added.

If the inbox syncs between Instagram and Threads, which makes sense because the two platforms have always been linked, it will be too difficult to implement messaging. Users can share Threads over Instagram Direct Messages without leaving the app. According to The Verge, users should expect cross-app sharing and messaging.

Mosseri did, however, raise several difficult points about this judgement. The biggest problem would be notifications. If users are given the option, they have one inbox in two applications and must decide which application should be pinged. It will necessitate a complicated cross-application set of controls and filters.

Meta seems to be working on all of its social media platforms including Threads, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger. In its annual developer conference ‘Meta Connect 2023’, Mark Zuckerberg announced the integration of artificial intelligence into all the messaging apps. Meta is also working on AI chatbots with different famous personalities including YouTuber Mr Beast and more.
