The Nagar Panchayat Gangapur Registry Office, Varanasi, is set to undergo a major renovation, with both structural strengthening and enhanced facilities for visitors. The government has approved the construction work and sanctioned Rs 2.28 crore for the project.
The Housing Development Department has been appointed as the implementing agency, and an initial amount of Rs 1.14 crore has already been released. The Gangapur Registry Office, one of the oldest in the region, has witnessed a significant rise in land registrations, particularly in areas like Mohan Sarai, Rajatalab, and Akelwa.
The expansion of the Prayagraj Highway, the construction of the ring road, and the upcoming international cricket stadium have led to a surge in property transactions, resulting in longer queues and increased demand for registration services. However, the existing office is in a dilapidated condition with inadequate facilities, causing inconvenience to the public.
Recognising the urgency of the issue, Rohania MLA Dr Sunil Patel raised the matter in the legislative assembly, advocating for its renovation and expansion. He also submitted a request to Stamp Registration and Court Fee Minister Ravindra Jaiswal, emphasising the need to modernise the office.
Dr Patel expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Stamp Minister for approving the project. He assured that renovation work will commence soon, providing much-needed relief and improved services to the people.
