The UP Government is set to organise a fire safety week from April 14 to 16 with an aim to raise public awareness about fire safety. The safety week will feature various programs including rallies, essay and drawing competitions in educational institutions, lectures, mock drills, and workshops. 

Over the past year, the government has invested Rs 184 crore in procuring fire safety vehicles and equipment. ADG Fire, Padmaja Chauhan, stated that the Fire Safety Week will commence with a Remembrance Day parade and flag pinning ceremony, which will be then followed by fire rallies originating from all fire stations.

Mock drills and fire safety audits will be conducted in multiplexes, shopping malls, hospitals, industrial units, and government offices. Equipment purchased in 2024-25 includes multi-disaster response vehicles, articulating water towers, emergency motor engine bikes, water tenders, bolero campers, Isuzu utility vehicles, portable pumps, and backpack pumps. 

In 2024, fire personnel responded to 54,801 fire incidents, saving 4,252 people, 6,540 animals, and property worth Rs 865 crore. To prevent fire incidents during the summer, 69 seasonal fire stations have been established at tehsil headquarters in rural areas from March 1 to June 30.
