Social media has been ablaze with a viral theory suggesting that The Simpsons once again predicted a real-life scandal, this time, the now-infamous Coldplay concert kiss cam moment involving Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot. The moment, which played out at Gillette Stadium during a Coldplay concert on July 16, 2025, sparked an internet storm of speculation, memes, and, of course, conspiracy theories.
The incident occurred during Coldplay’s signature kiss cam segment. As the jumbotron panned across the crowd, it zoomed in on Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, who were seen cuddling and then awkwardly pulling apart upon realising they were on camera. Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin cheekily joked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.” The crowd erupted in laughter, but the internet quickly turned serious.

Both Byron and Cabot are married, but not to each other, leading many to speculate about a workplace affair. The video clip went viral across platforms like X, TikTok, and Instagram, and was quickly dubbed #ColdplayGate.

The Simpsons “Prediction” Theory Takes Off
Fans of The Simpsons were quick to draw parallels to a 2017 episode titled “Kiss Kiss” (Season 28), where Homer and Marge appear on a kiss cam at a baseball game. Homer initially hesitates before kissing Marge in an awkward, crowd-cheering moment. A screenshot resembling Andy and Kristin’s kiss cam pose began circulating online, with users exclaiming that the show had once again predicted reality.
One viral post read: “Is there anything The Simpsons don't know? Tech CEO Andy Byron's SECRET relationship with HR head Kristin Cabot EXPOSED after Coldplay concert, and the Internet did its thing.”

Fact Check
Despite the buzz, the claim that The Simpsons predicted the scandal is false. The circulating images appearing to show Homer and Marge mimicking Andy and Kristin’s pose are AI-generated. Several apps and websites now allow users to convert real-life photos into Simpsons-style illustrations. That’s likely how the fake image was created.
The Simpsons showrunner Al Jean addressed the claim, stating, “We write satire, not prophecy. Any similarity is pure luck.” Following the viral scandal, Andy Byron has resigned from his role as CEO of Astronomer. The company posted a statement on LinkedIn, admitting that “recently, our standards were not met,” and confirmed an internal review was underway.
