BMW Motorrad Unveils R20 Concept: BMW Motorrad has unveiled the R20 concept, a motorcycle that merges modern technology with classic roadster design. Alexander Buckan, Head of Design at BMW Motorrad, describes the R20 concept as, “A bold interpretation of the BMW Motorrad DNA. It combines modern technical elements with a classic roadster design. Its oversized proportions and minimalistic aesthetic make it an unmistakable character.”
The main focus of the R20 is its air-cooled 2000cc Boxer engine, an upgrade from the R18’s 1802 cc motor. Although specific performance figures for the new engine are not yet released, it's worth noting that the R18 produces a power output of 91 bhp and 157 Nm of torque. BMW has completely redeveloped the chassis for the R20, utilising a double-loop main frame made from chrome-molybdenum steel tubes. The rear wheel, featuring a black disc-like design, measures 17 inches and is paired with a 200/55 size rear tyre. The front wheel is a 17-inch spoke design with a 120/70 size tyre.
The BMW R20 concept is distinguished by its unique design elements. It features an aluminium tank finished in a bold colour described by BMW as “hotter than pink.” This vibrant colour extends to various parts of the bike, including the cylinder head covers, air intake funnels and belt cover. The paralever strut, brake callipers and footrests are finished in gunmetal, enhancing the bike's aesthetic appeal. A standout feature is the 3D-printed aluminium ring that houses the daytime running lights, creating a floating effect. The seat upholstery is in quilted black Alcantara and leather, and has a compact rear section with an integrated LED tail light.
