US based automobile manufacturer Ford hasn't officially confirmed its plans of re-entering the Indian market. However, there has been a lot of buzz regarding the comeback of the manufacturer in the country. They've been busy filing trademarks for new designs and nameplates. Recently, they filed a trademark for 'Territory,' a mid-size SUV already sold globally. However, filing a trademark doesn't guarantee that the SUV will hit the Indian market as it can be just to secure the name.

Ford Territory - Engine Specs
In terms of engine specs, the Ford Territory is powered by a 1.8-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing a power output of 189 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission and is offered in front-wheel drive only. Ford offers four driving modes and claims a fuel efficiency of 15.9 kmpl.
Ford Territory - Rivals
The Ford Territory is known as a crossover globally but would fit into India's mid-size SUV segment. If it does launch here, it'll compete with cars like the MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Mahindra XUV700.
Aside from the Territory, Ford also filed a trademark for the Mustang Mach-E, their electric crossover globally. When Ford left India, many expected them to focus on electric vehicles here, but that hasn't happened yet. They've also patented designs for two SUVs, resembling the leaked W605 model from before they exited India. There's no word on the powertrain options for these upcoming SUVs, but they could offer both petrol and diesel engines.
