Kawasaki Versys-X 300 was recently spotted being tested in India while being wrapped in camouflage. This was surprising since the bike had been on sale in India before the BS6 regulations were implemented in 2020. According to a report by Autocar, it has been confirmed that Kawasaki is planning to locally manufacture the Versys-X 300 for the Indian market, with plans to launch it by the end of 2024.

This marks Kawasaki's third localised bike in India, following the Ninja 300 and W175. Similar to the Ninja 300, the localization of the Versys-X 300 will include body panels, some electronics, tyres, engine components and more.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300 - Engine Specs
The specifications, style, and equipment of the bike are expected to remain largely unchanged. The 296cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine in the Ninja 300 produces a power output of 39 bhp and 26 Nm of torque, which are likely to be similar figures for the Versys. The bike is anticipated to feature a simple semi-digital display and dual-channel ABS without advanced riding assists.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300 - Hardware
The Versys-X 300 will retain its spoked wheels and tubed tyres, with a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel setup. It's estimated to weigh around 185 kg with approximately 180 mm of ground clearance. While it offers under 150 mm of suspension travel, it's more suited for rough-road touring rather than serious off-road adventures.

Kawasaki Versys-X 300 - Price
Previously, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 didn't perform well due to its high price of Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom). With local manufacturing, Kawasaki aims to offer a more competitive price, but whether it will drop below Rs 4 lakh is uncertain. Currently, the Ninja 300 is priced at Rs 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom) for reference.
