The AX5 S variant of the Mahindra XUV700 has been positioned between the AX3 and AX5 variants. This new variant aims to provide more features at an attractive price point. Some of the notable features of the AX5 S variants include a panoramic sunroof, dual 10.24-inch HD screens, push-button start/stop, Adrenox connectivity with over 75 connected features, Amazon Alexa built-in, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a sound system with 6 speakers.

However, the AX5 S variant omits several features that are present in the AX5 variant. These include 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED headlights, electronic stability control (ESC), drive modes, curtain airbags, LED sequential turn indicators, cornering lamps, a reverse camera, cruise control and fog lamps.

Under the hood, the AX5 S variant of the Mahindra XUV700 retains the existing engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol mStallion engine produces a power output of 200 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, while the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine produces a power output of 185 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. The diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission generates 450 Nm of torque.
