Japanese automotive giant Suzuki Motors recently launched the fourth-generation Swift in Japan. Now, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce this new model in India in May, 2024. Recently, the Japan New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) released crash test results for the Swift sold in Japan, awarding it an overall rating of four stars out of five. However, it's important to note that the India-specific Swift may differ slightly from the Japanese version, which could affect its safety rating.

The Japanese NCAP evaluated both preventive safety performance and collision safety performance of the 2024 Swift. The vehicle received full five stars in various aspects such as damage reduction brake, lane departure prevention, high-performance headlight and collision protection. However, it got four stars for seat belt warning, pedestrian head protection and some collision scenarios.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift - Details
Maruti Suzuki plans to launch the India-spec Swift with some minor modifications compared to the Japanese model. The car will maintain its iconic hatchback silhouette but will feature new bumpers, alloy wheels and repositioned rear door handles. Inside, the cabin will sport a black and off-white theme similar to the new-gen Baleno, with updated instrument cluster dials and an enhanced infotainment system. While the exact safety rating for the India-spec Swift is yet to be determined, these tests indicate a strong foundation in safety features for the vehicle.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift - Engine Specs
There is a significant upgrade in terms of engine specs as Suzuki is introducing a new three-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine named Z12E for the 2024 Swift in India. This engine is capable of delivering a power output of 80 bhp and 108 Nm of torque, which is slightly lower than the current Swift's power output. However, it offers improved fuel efficiency at 24 kilometres per litre.
