Safest SUVs In India: The Indian automotive industry has been on a rise and has been witnessing an increasing demand of SUVs in the country. However, we have also been observing a growing trend for safety among the cars launched in India. People have become more aware of the safety features and make an informed decision before buying a new car. Therefore, to help you in making this informed decision, here’s a list of some of the safest SUVs available in India as per their Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP safety ratings. 

Tata Nexon 

Tata Nexon’s 2023 facelift has been recently awarded a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP. Previously, it has scored a 5-star rating in 2018 as well. Tata Nexon fared extremely well in the GNCAP crash tests as it scored 32.22 points out of 34 points in Adult Occupant Protection category and 44.52 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection category.

Tata Harrier 

The recently launched Tata Harrier facelift is the first SUV to undergo Bharat NCAP crash tests. The new Tata Harrier facelift received a score of 33.05 out of 34 points in the Child Occupant Protection category and 45 out of 49 points in the Adult Occupant Protection category. 

Tata Safari 

Tata Safari facelift was launched with the Harrier facelift and was tested under the Bharat NCAP programme, along with the Harrier SUV. In terms of safety rating, it received identical scores as the Harrier which was 33.05 out of 34 points in the Child Occupant Protection category and 45 out of 49 points in the Adult Occupant Protection category. 

Mahindra Scorpio N 

Mahindra Scorpio-N is the new-gen iteration of the iconic Scorpio SUV. Mahindra Scorpio-N secured 29.25 out of 34 points in Adult Occupant Protection category, however could only receive a 3-star rating in Child Occupant Protection category as it scored 28.93 out of a maximum 49 points. 

Mahindra XUV700 

Mahindra’s flagship SUV, the XUV700 has also fared well in the Global NCAP crash tests as it received a 5-star rating in Adult Occupant Protection category but could only manage to score a 4-star rating in Child Occupant Protection category. 

Skoda Kushaq 

Skoda Kushaq is one of the safest compact SUV models in the country as it has received a 5-star safety rating in both the Child Occupant Protection and Adult Occupant Protection categories.

Volkswagen Taigun 

Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq are sister models as they both boast the same mechanical configurations and body structure. The Volkswagen Taigun has also undergone the Global NCAP crash tests and fared identical to the Skoda Kushaq with 5-star safety ratings in both Child Occupant Protection and Adult Occupant Protection categories. 

Tata Punch 

Tata Punch is a micro SUV in India to receive a 5-star safety rating under the Global NCAP programme. In the Adult Occupant Protection category, the Punch has scored 16.45 out of 17 points and in the Child Occupant Protection category, it has scored 40.89 out of 49 points. 

Mahindra XUV300 

Mahindra XUV300, which is also a micro SUV like the Punch that has received a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. It has managed to score 16.42 out of 17 points in Adult Occupant Protection category and 41.66 out of 49 points in Child Occupant Protection category.
