Five major bridge projects across Bihar are set to become operational in the current fiscal year. These long-awaited infrastructure projects, including one in Patna, are being developed under the supervision of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation.

In a significant step toward easing traffic congestion in Chhapra, a double-decker flyover is being constructed between Gandhi Chowk and Nagarpalika Chowk. This ambitious project, costing Rs 41,131.33 lakh, marks the first double-decker flyover outside Patna in the state.

Another key project nearing completion is the extension of Patna’s Mithapur flyover to Chiraiyatand bridge via Karbigahiya. The 1,128-meter-long, four-lane elevated road aims to improve traffic flow in the city. The project, which faced design-related delays, is now back on track, with a total cost of Rs 12,186.25 lakh.

The much-talked-about Agwani Ghat bridge, connecting Agwani Ghat in Khagaria to Sultanganj in Bhagalpur across the Ganga, is also set for completion this year under the NABARD loan scheme. The 3,160-meter-long, two-lane RCC bridge, with a project cost of Rs 1,71,077.00 lakh, faced construction challenges, including the collapse of its superstructure twice.

The four-lane expansion work, including the approach road from Sultanganj to the Mirzachowki-Munger bypass near NH-80 (as part of the Agwani Ghat–Sultanganj Ganga Bridge Project), is also scheduled for completion this year. The project is estimated at Rs 20,932.00 lakh.

Under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, the construction of a two-lane bridge near Panduka on the Son river in Rohtas district, including the approach road, is targeted for completion in this financial year. The total cost of the project stands at Rs 21,013.00 lakh.
