IND vs ENG, ODI World Cup 2023: Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah led from the front as India thrashed England by 100 runs to claim the top spot in the points table of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
The win at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow was India's sixth successive one as they remain the only undefeated team in the tournament.
The Men in Blue put up a remarkable bowling performance to defend 229 runs as they bowled England out for just 129 runs in 34.5 overs.
While Shami and Bumrah finished with incredible bowling figures of 4/22 and 3/32 respectively, the former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram lauded the Indian bowling attack and called it the best in the world.

"Indian pacers look brilliant, they look best in the world starting from the leader of the pack Bumrah, Siraj ran in and Shami did the last nail in the coffin for England," Akram said during a chat with ASports.
The legendary pace went on to say that England had an opportunity in the match due to the challenging batting conditions on the pitch of Lucknow. However, he lauded Indian skipper Rohit Sharma's batting performance, calling it very crucial for the team during that moment.
Notably, India lost three early wickets as Shubman Gill (9), Virat Kohli (0), and Shreyas Iyer (4) departed cheaply before Rohit played a remarkable innings with a promising support from KL Rahul as he went on to score 87 runs.
"We all thought that India was lagging and England had a chance but the wicket was different from what we usually have seen in this World Cup. The pitch was difficult to bat on especially when India were batting. Rohit said in the post-match that he realised from his experience that one has to stay there longer. He led from the front, 87 off 101 balls, it was the need of the hour," Akram added.
The legendary fast bowler also mentioned the late 21-run stand between Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav for the ninth wicket, calling that crucial which made a huge difference.
"There was only one batter who hasn't scored so far, it was Suryakumar. He got 49 runs, he played very well, very sensible. And India's tail fought brilliantly, Bumrah and Kuldeep added crucial 21 runs for the ninth wicket. Those 21 runs on this wicket are equivalent to 50-60 runs. That shows they had the sense and awareness of the situation and that runs made a difference in the end.

I think they knew that they were not going to qualify for the semifinals and India outplayed England in every department. England fought well and fielded beautifully. But in the end, they were against the best side of this World Cup," Akam further said.
