India vs West Indies 1st Test: Dhruv Jurel had a remarkable outing with the bat for India in the first innings of the first Test against the West Indies as he smashed his maiden Test century on Friday.

Jurel produced a batting masterclass to entertain the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium, helping India extend their lead on the second day of the match. The right-handed batter reached the milestone during the 116th over of India's first innings as he smashed a boundary off Roston Chase.

Jurel is now the 12th Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test century. He has joined Vijay Manjrekar, Farookh Engineer, Ajay Ratra, and Wriddhiman Saha in the list of Indian wicketkeepers to have scored their maiden Test century against the West Indies.

He came out to bat at the no.5 position after skipper Shubman Gill departed for 50. He stitched a 30-run partnership with KL Rahul for the fourth wicket. While Rahul was dismissed for 100 by Jomel Warrican in the 68th over, Jurel was joined by Ravindra Jadeja in the middle.

The duo kept the West Indies completely out of the contest later in the second day as they headed towards the 200-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Jadeja also continued his magnificent form and ended up reaching his fifty, his 7th in the last nine Test innings.
