'Adipurush' Box Office Collection Day 18: The movie 'Adipurush', featuring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, is on track to be a major failure. Critics and viewers have strongly criticised the film's poor visual effects and lack of credibility. As it enters its third week in theatres, 'Adipurush' is expected to be taken off from most cinemas by the end of this week. The movie has failed to attract an increasing audience and has not performed well at the box office. The epic drama was one of the most anticipated films of 2023 and graced the big screens on June 16 worldwide.
'Adipurush' experienced a further drop in collections on Monday, July 3. Preliminary estimates indicate that the film generated approximately Rs 50-80 lakh at the Indian box office. As a result, the total collection in India has now reached Rs 286 crore, reportedly. Considering the film's negative reviews and the current rate of performance, it is probable that 'Adipurush' will be removed from a significant number of theatres soon.
About Adipurush:
'Adipurush' is an adaptation of Valmiki's 'Ramayana', presenting a mythological narrative. The 3D movie, helmed and written by Om Raut, has faced severe criticism from audiences nationwide due to its use of colloquial dialogues, subpar visual effects, and unengaging screenplay. The cast includes Prabhas portraying the character of Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh.
Sunny Singh took on the role of Lakshman, whereas Devdatta Nage portrayed Lord Hanuman in the film. Karthik Palani served as the cinematographer, while Apurva Motiwale Sahai and Ashish Mhatre worked as the editors, completing the technical crew.
Following the negative response, the initial teaser of 'Adipurush' received, director Om Raut promptly acknowledged the feedback and made the decision to postpone the film by six months. He assured the audience that this delay would allow for improvements to be made, ensuring a final product of superior quality.
Regrettably, despite the director's assurances, the film failed to live up to expectations and is now considered average, at best. Moreover, controversy surrounding the film's portrayal of mythology and its representation had led to calls for a ban from certain groups.
