Filmmaker Karan Johar, who made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, recently revealed the reason behind actor Shah Rukh Khan's request to avoid stepping onto the basketball court during the film's shooting.

Karan took to his Instagram Stories on Saturday and shared a previously unseen picture from the set of the 1998 film. The photo captured Karan holding a basketball while speaking to Shah Rukh.

Karan Johar, donning a white T-shirt and jacket, could be seen clutching a basketball in the picture, while Shah Rukh Khan, dressed in a white shirt and tie, engaged in conversation with him.

Sharing the black and white picture, Karan humorously commented, " As if I knew anything about basketball... I kept calling it a 'goal' till bhai (brother) took over and told me never to set foot on the court!!! (see-no-evil monkey and laughing emoji)."

According to a 2019 statement by Karan Johar, he considered Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to be the most "politically incorrect" film. In an Indian Express report, Karan mentioned a conversation he had with Shabana Azmi, where she questioned the portrayal in the film. He recalled her saying, "‘What have you shown? That a girl has short hair, so she’s not attractive, and now her hair is long and she’s pretty? What do you have to say to this?’ I said I’m sorry. She said, what? That’s all you have to say?’ I said yes because I know you’re right." Shabana Azmi expressed surprise at his response, to which Karan admitted that he understood her point and accepted her criticism.

In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, Kajol was questioned about her character Anjali in the film. She expressed her personal take on the role, stating that her version of Anjali would not be seen wearing a saree. Instead, she envisioned Anjali sporting track pants, stylish and expensive sneakers, and effortlessly pulling off that look. While discussing the script, she mentioned that on a conceptual level, she might have chosen Salman's character. However, when it comes to the film itself, she emphasised that the ending is predetermined and there is no alternative.

Karan recently wrapped up the filming of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, a family drama that stars Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh in prominent roles. This film marks Karan's directorial comeback since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016. Scheduled for release on July 28, the movie has generated much anticipation among audiences.
