iPhone SE: Apple Crowns First-Generation SE Model As 'Vintage'; Check Price And Specs Of SE Model

Apple iPhone SE: Cupertino-based tech giant Apple added the iPhone SE that debuted in 2016 to its vintage list alongside other old model iPhones. The device is over seven years old and was available for purchase till September 2018 via Apple's official channels. It means the device has been off the shelf for over five years and fulfils the requirements of the company's vintage label. Subsequently, the firm marks products as "obsolete" once their sales exit completes seven years.

These devices are not always eligible for repairs, unlike regular products at Apple's repair facility or authorised service points. The repairs are dependent on parts availability. Unlike the "mini" iteration, the company continues to sell the 2022 model iPhone SE, which offers a Touch ID-based fingerprint reader. The company has released three models of the SE model, with last year's March model being the latest one.

According to MacRumors, the company also moved the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2nd Gen and Mickey Solo3 Wireless headphones (Special Edition) in the vintage category. Plus, Powerbeats 2 and Solo2 Wireless headsets were declared as obsolete.

iPhone models, including iPhone 4 (8GB), iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s (32GB) and iPhone 6s Plus (32GB) are also a part of the vintage class worldwide. Meanwhile, here are the specifications and the price of the iPhone SE 2016.

iPhone SE (2016) Specifications

The 2016 SE boasts a 4-inch IPS LCD screen with 1136x640p resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone has a dual-core 14mm A9 processor with PowerVR GT7600 GPU. It debuted on iOS 9.3.2 and was upgradable to iOS 15.7, according to GSMArena. iPhone SE has a 1,624mAh battery. On the front, the 3G device has a 12MP primary lens and a 1.2MP selfie shooter. For security, the device gets a front-mounted fingerprint scanner.

While the current iPhone SE (2022) model starts from Rs 49,900, the 2016 model was priced at around Rs 39,000.
