Mastaney Box Office Collection Day 2: Punjabi movie 'Mastaney' has achieved blockbuster status by witnessing a remarkable growth in earnings on its second day, following a robust first reception. The period drama with a devotional theme amassed Rs. 3.50 crores on Saturday, contributing to a cumulative total of Rs. 6.30 crores over two days. Growth in business is projected for today, setting the stage for an anticipated three-day weekend collection exceeding Rs. 10.25 crores.

Better movie screening conditions could have potentially resulted in even more impressive figures, given that several venues in the Punjab region face limitations in terms of screening capacity by sharing screens with newly released films like 'Dream Girl 2,' 'Gadar 2,' and 'OMG 2' from the previous lineup.

The challenge is particularly pronounced in major hubs like Chandigarh and Ludhiana, where Hindi films tend to dominate the screen space. In these areas, the movie falls short compared to 'Carry on Jatta 3.' However, in smaller locales where Hindi films received less exposure, 'Mastaney' managed to achieve numbers closer to those of 'Carry on Jatta 3.'

Due to its Sikh history-centric narrative, 'Mastaney' is attracting an unconventional cinema-going audience, and in such instances, the movie's performance can be unpredictable. A few years ago, 'Chaar Sahibzade' managed to achieve the status of the highest-grossing Punjabi film ever, despite starting from a modest position. In contrast, 'Mastaney' has kicked off with a robust start.

The movie is also a massive hit in international markets, setting multiple records. In Australia, it raked in AUD $325K on Saturday, shattering the single-day record for Punjabi films. The Australian weekend earnings are projected to surpass AUD $800K, comfortably surpassing the AUD $511K weekend record set by 'Carry on Jatta 3' just two months ago. The overall weekend collection is estimated to be in the range of $1.75 million.

About Mastaney:

Set against the historical backdrop of 1739 in India, this epic tale draws inspiration from the uprising of warrior Sikhs who united against the Mughal empire during that period. Through the narrative of five fictional characters, the film captures the essence of Sikh valour, drawing upon the teachings of warrior Sikh gurus like Guru Hargobind Singh, Guru Teg Bahadur, and Guru Gobind Singh. The story commences with the escapades of these four ordinary men, including Zahoor (Tarsem Jassar) and Bashir (Karamjit Anmol), showcasing their comical antics as they are enlisted by Zakariya Khan's wazir (Arif Zakaria) to portray Sikhs.
