Bhola Shakar Box Office Collection Day 1: Despite facing tough competition from Rajinikanth's 'Jailer,' Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2,' and Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2,' the action-packed Telugu movie 'Bhola Shankar,' starring Chiranjeevi, managed to secure a strong start at the box office on its first day. Early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk suggested that the film garnered approximately Rs 20 crore at the box office.
However, despite the film receiving relatively mediocre reviews, unlike its competitors which received favourable feedback, it is predicted that 'Bhola Shankar's box office earnings will likely drop on Saturday, reaching a more moderate collection of approximately Rs 8.34 crore.
Based on the Tamil movie 'Vedalam' directed by Siva, which starred Ajith Kumar, Meher Ramesh's 'Bhola Shankar' managed to secure an average Telugu occupancy rate of 61.92 per cent on Friday. The film had a remarkable 65.05 per cent occupancy during its morning shows in the Telugu market.
Nevertheless, these occupancy percentages exhibited variation throughout the day. They dipped to 49.95 per cent during the afternoon screenings, then rose to 60.95 per cent during the evening shows, finally stabilising at an average of 71.74 per cent for the night shows.
Although the opening day earnings of 'Bhola Shankar' were decent, they fell short of garnering substantial praise considering the presence of Chiranjeevi in the lead role. This becomes noteworthy as Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' achieved an impressive Rs 48.35 crore on its release day, August 10, and continued to strengthen its success with an additional Rs 27 crore on Friday. With an estimated Rs 30 crore anticipated on Saturday, the film is poised to surpass the Rs 100-crore milestone within just three days.
Conversely, Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2' and Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2,' which garnered Rs 40 crore and Rs 9.5 crore respectively on Friday, are also likely to hinder the film's smooth progress at the box office.
About Bhola Shankar:
The movie depicts the story of an innocent young man named Shankar who arrives in a metropolitan city (Mumbai) to pursue his career. There, he reunites with his childhood friend from their village, who has now become a gangster. Shankar's sole relative in the world is his wealthy uncle living in the US. The uncle informs Shankar that he will inherit all his property if he gets married, otherwise, he plans to donate it.
Upon learning this, Shankar's friend provides wong details, claiming that he is already married and has a child. Consequently, the uncle decides to visit Mumbai to meet his supposed family. This is where the storyline takes an interesting turn, as the unfolding drama centres around how Shankar and his friend manipulate the situation involving the uncle, with the assistance of a young widow and her child.
